Chaerophyllum bulbosum, a biennial plant, completes a two-year life cycle. In the first year, it forms a leaf rosette, accumulating ample starch in the taproot to support flowering in the following year. In its second year, the plant reaches a height of 70 cm to over 2 m, displaying a smooth stem with spaced nodes. The lower stem, occasionally hairy just above the ground, may exhibit scattered red spots and is distinguished by a blue-rimmed appearance.
