The tree has the potential to reach a height of 25–35 m, featuring a trunk with a maximum diameter of 2 m. Its bark transforms from smooth and orange-brown to fissured, exfoliating in long strips on the lower trunk of mature trees. The foliage consists of flattened sprays containing scale-like leaves measuring 1.5–8 mm. These leaves are arranged in decussate pairs, forming apparent whorls of four, with facial pairs flat and lateral pairs folded over their bases.
