The vetiveria is important for fragrance and beverage industries. It originates in India, Chrysopogon zizanioides is widely cultivated in the tropical regions of the world. The major vetiver producers include Haiti, India, Java, and Réunion. Yield is 30 kg/ha.
Essential oil is perfumery or fixative and odour stabilizer, in high grade perfumes and cosmetics.
